Blackwolds Consultancy was founded by Trevor Black. The foundations of his commercial expertise were formed working in manufacturing within the automotive industry with companies including IMI Marston, Toyota Liftrucks and Leyland Bus. He successfully transferred those skills when he moved to the public sector where he worked for Leeds City Council and the Sector Skills Development Agency.
Those skills were successfully applied during the cultural changes that were introduced across the public sector by the introduction of commercial practices such as Compulsory Competitive Tendering, Best Value and the Gershon Review. This included working in diverse areas such as Information Technology, Finance, Transport, Waste Management, Catering and Distribution.
His innovative approach brought him wider recognition and led to working on a number of projects with Business Solutions (a division of The Treasury) as well as the Regional Centre of Excellence for Yorkshire and the Humber.
He has had a number of articles published in Government Opportunities and Supply Management magazines.
A Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) including its Policy Advisory Network which advises on all White Papers before they are released into the public domain. In January 2008 he represented CIPS at the World Trade Centre in Amsterdam, working with European professional and technical bodies on a project to encourage innovation into contracts across the EU.
He is also a Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI) and a Member of the Society of Automobile Engineers (MSAE).
He has developed and delivered numerous seminars and training workshops on a variety of subjects for all levels of attendee, from operational staff to directors and owners /managers of SMEs.
He is a Non-Executive Director of Groundwork North Yorkshire which is a charitable trust focussed on environmental regeneration and is Chair of its trading division, Groundwork Environmental Developments North Yorkshire (GEDNY) which works with local authorities, communities and businesses, in providing training, work experience and employment opportunities in the area.
